So, Mellissa and others, if you like Sufjan Stevens, you can find more free legal mp3s of him at this site. 3hive.com collects promotional mp3s of complete songs from across the Internet into a conveniently organized site. There will be close to no artists you would hear on any radio station, but you might find that diamond in the rough.

At work today, I had two meetings where my role was just the listener. And they were in two different places in downtown Chicago at two different times. Needless to say, the little time I had at my desk I was very distracted and not very productive, but I don't have any dangerously close deadlines.

I had too much on my mind because if you've been following the news lately, there is a lot of lousy political stuff going on, with Republicans defending in extremely callous and bizarre ways the most depraved acts done on human beings in our country's name in recent history. The dark irony of torturing prisoners in the exact same place that Saddam tortured prisoners or "defending freedom" by keeping enemy combatants in the only U.S. jurisdiction where prisoners do not have any rights... the irony of that is so obvious that the concept of irony ought to be chained to celing and beaten to death, or maybe irony's holy religious text should be pissed on, or irony's... well you get the idea.

Alas, though, I have not reached a tipping point, to where I take the time to dump a bunch of links on you and articulate why I hate the mentality that leads people to justify particular Republican policies. I'm not quite at Terri Schiavo level outrage yet, and you know how I got when that was the story of the week I don't think I should bother with a follow-up on that one, given the recent news on her actual medical condition right? Damn doctors with their medicine, and science, and autopsies revealing what a bunch of liars everyone from the President to the psychos protesting at her hospice are. You know what we should do to those "doctors" that make conservative pundits look bad? That's right, torture 'em!

I'd say that's probably the tipping point right there, although not a very well referenced one. If you are confused drop me a line and I will send you links to articles to give you context.

Have a blessed Friday, weekend, whatever it is until I post again.

Jonah, I am a bit in the dark. What new news is there about Trrri Sciavo?

Oh, well, you know she passed away right?

Well earlier this week an autopsy report revealed that she had no hope of recovery from her injury, her brain was half the size of a normal person, all life functions that one might consider being part of a conscious form of living were filled with fluid, and she had no visual input into her brain. Senate leader Bill Frist, at the time of the controversy gave a diagnosis based on a viewing of an excerpt of a videotape, that she was responding to visual stimuli and therefore was not brain-damaged beyond repair.

This science refutes all the testimony from the right-wing politicians and media spokespersons saying she could recover and that by removing her feeding tube it would be tantamount to murdering a retarded person or a brain-damaged patient who could get better. And Leigha that's very calmly paraphrasing what Republican leaders and followers were saying a few months ago. People then, and still are, accused her husband of beating her, abusing her, and wanting to have her die so he could gain financially from it. It's sickening. And I just discovered this news item http://news.yahoo.com/fc/US/Assisted_Suicide/

Jeb Bush governor of Florida wants to investigate 911 tapes from 15 years ago to make sure Michael Shiavo husband didn't kill her. This is the Michael Schiavo who stood by her wife's bed for years after her accident and had to be restrained from the hospital for a period of time because he was being too aggressive about ensuring that every comfort was given to her. And now rather than let this issue rest the President's brother is trying to get him accused of murder.

Anyway, that's the background.
